Required information

Have these ready before you begin.

Gather all details before opening the portal. Timing out mid-application means starting over from the beginning.
📘

Valid passport

Have your physical passport ready. You need your passport type, number, expiry date, full name, date of birth, and nationality. You can optionally upload a passport photo to auto-fill these fields. Vietnam expects your passport to remain valid for at least six months from your arrival date — check the expiry before you begin.

🛂

Visa or entry document

You need your exact visa type matching your entry method: E-Visa number, exemption certificate, or ABTC card. Also required: issue date, expiry date, and issued place.

📱

Contact details

A valid phone number including your country code, and an active email address to receive your confirmation. Keep your phone nearby during the application.

✈️

Flight details

Your exact flight code (operating carrier, not codeshare), border gate (SGN, PQC, HAN, DAD, or CXR), departure country, and purpose of travel — all selected from dropdown menus on the form.

🏨

Accommodation in Vietnam

The exact province, city, ward, and commune of your stay — selected from dropdowns — plus your full street accommodation address. Have your hotel booking confirmation ready.

📅

Departure date from Vietnam

Your expected date of departure from Vietnam in DD/MM/YYYY format at GMT+7. Know your travel timeline before opening the form.

🏥

Health declaration

The form includes a short health section with yes/no symptom questions — no documents or test results are needed. Answer each question honestly and do not leave any blank, as the form will not submit with unanswered fields. Most travelers complete this section in under a minute without any issues.

Visa types

Which visa type should you select?

Selecting the wrong visa type causes a mismatch at immigration. Match your selection to your entry document exactly.
E-VisaSelect if you received your visa online before traveling.
VisaSelect if you hold a regular sticker visa issued at a Vietnamese embassy or consulate.
Visa Exemption CertificateSelect if you hold a specific 5-year exemption certificate, often granted to overseas Vietnamese or spouses of Vietnamese citizens.
Bilateral exemptionSelect if your passport is from a country with a bilateral visa-free agreement with Vietnam.
Unilateral exemptionSelect if you qualify under Vietnam's unilateral visa-free policy for certain nationalities.
ABTC CardSelect if you are entering using a valid APEC Business Travel Card.
Permanent/Temporary ResidenceSelect if you already hold residency status within Vietnam.

A bilateral exemption means both countries have agreed to let each other's citizens in visa-free — Vietnam has these agreements with Thailand, the Philippines, and Malaysia, among others. A unilateral exemption means Vietnam grants visa-free access to a nationality without requiring the same in return — Japan, France, and Germany are examples. If you are unsure which category applies to you, or whether yours is currently in effect, check your nationality's status at evisa.gov.vn before travel.

FAQ

Requirements — common questions.

Most common questions about Vietnam Pre-Arrival Form requirements — answered by Quỳnh Đỗ.
It depends. Transit passengers who pass through Vietnamese immigration at SGN must complete the form. Airside transit passengers who do not pass through immigration are generally exempt. Confirm with your airline before travel.
The flight code dropdown filters by arrival date. If your flight is missing, first verify your arrival date is correct in Step 2. The form can only be submitted within 3 days (72 hours) of your arrival date — submitting too early means your flight will not yet appear in the list.
Yes. The form includes an "Add Passenger +" button that allows you to add multiple travelers to a single submission. Each passenger requires their own complete passport, visa, and contact details entered separately.
As of June 2026, the form is required at five airports: SGN (since April 15), PQC (since June 1), HAN — Noi Bai, Hanoi (since June 8), DAD — Da Nang (since June 15, 2026), and CXR — Cam Ranh, Nha Trang (since June 2026). Travelers arriving at Cat Bi, or other airports not on this list are currently exempt. Always verify before flying.
